If this quote is accurate

We believe that we need to own and control the primary technologies behind the products that we make, and participate only in markets where we can make a significant contribution. -Tim Cook, 2009

Hardware

Intel: Apple makes its own CPUs
NVIDIA: Apple makes its own GPUs

Apple appears to be making a real (or at least much better effort) in the gaming market, but there’s still so much to do. Is Apple content waiting?

If not, there’s more to be done.

Software

Epic’s Unreal Engine: Epic will never work with Apple again.
Unity: They are pissing off the developers.

It sure seems like Apple is putting a lot of effort into gaming to still be at the mercy of others.

Apple should do what they did years ago in order so that wonderful software like Acorn can exist (it’s written by one dude).

The same steps should be taken by creating a gaming environment. Apple should then make some of its own games to show off what can be done. I can’t figure out why Apple is pouring billions into the hardware side without the follow through on the software side.

Apple has a whole-ass TV division, surely they can create a gaming division, too.
